Nina Jizhar has been in the design industry for many years, having begun her career working for a commercial interior architecture firm. After starting a family, though, Nina realized she wanted more flexibility and balance in her life, so Nina Jizhar Design was born. Seven years later, Nina is still designing interiors for homes and high-end small businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. From a salon and spa in Palo Alto to vacation homes in Healdsburg and Lodi, Nina Jizhar Design is making clients happy with their luxurious, hand-curated spaces.
“We love mixing design styles to create a perfect balance of elevated yet approachable spaces that reflect our clients’ lifestyles,” Nina told us. “We are a firm believer that a home should be inspired by its owners’ personalities, and that the design process should be a true collaboration and partnership between the designer and client.” The outcome of Nina Jizhar Design’s values are evident in this California home for a couple of world travelers. Having collected many items from their travels, Nina intentionally integrated the clients’ unique artwork and objects into the design, which created a true reflection of the homeowners’ aesthetic and eclecticism.
Nina and her team did much more to the home than that, though. The home hadn’t been updated in the past fifteen years and needed a fresh look. The clients were not afraid of colors or patterns, which provided an exciting canvas for Nina. The home became an experiment in bold colors balanced with intricate details and furnishings, and the end result was a gorgeous aesthetic that was both timeless and edgy.
The kitchen was given a face-lift with a Calacatta gold marble backsplash, floating shelves, and light sconces that perfectly merged the timelessness of the space with the modernity of the design. The marble from the kitchen was carried into the powder room by way of a stunning floating sink. The powder room became a beautiful jewel of the home, wearing colorful, whimsical wallpaper in a floral pattern. The refreshed home as a whole became a beautiful, special place for the clients to live surrounded by the things that they loved—only Nina Jizhar Design could have created such a space.
